Happy Dane Productions is a new theatre company based in Kingston with the goal of bringing fine classical theatre to the Kingston community.
We are very excited to mount this production as Kingston has not had a Hamlet produced in several years. Our production is going to be directed by Matthew Davis, a local Kingston director and actor who has directed and starred in many productions in Kingston and abroad. We are very fortunate to have Matt on board and with his unique vision for this show and with a talented cast of local Kingston actors.
The play also stands to be a great historical and cultural event as it is a classic theatre standard. Arguably Shakespeares best play, it is certainly one of the most familiar plays to a wide array of audience members. It is in keeping with our mission statement to offer the best of classical drama to the Kingston community in an inventive, up-to-date format to show that the story and themes of Hamlet are still very pertinent to us today. Since Hamlet is part of the Ontario curriculum, we believe that our show would be a terrific learning opportunity for students and audiences alike.
All performances will take place at The Baby Grand Theatre in the heart of downtown Kingston.
