In celebration of the presentation of Timber at the Grand Theatre, the MacLachlan Woodworking Museum is hosting its first Lumberjack Survival Summit.  Discover if you have what it takes to face the extreme conditions and grueling tasks of a Canadian logging camp.

Build your own two day schedule by selecting from over 16 break out workshops taught by experts in their field, designed to hone your skills in the areas of camping, cooking, tools and woodworking, orienteering, emergency medicine and more.

Workshops

Workshops are broken out into four categories:

  • Food & Drink - These workshops involve food and drink. Yah, I think we nailed that title.    Workshops to choose from in this category: Brewing 101, Nature Teas, Canned Apple Chutney, Entomophagy

  • Wilderness Survival - These workshops will prepare you to stay alive in a wilderness setting.   Workshops to choose from in this category: Wilderness Medicine, Map and Compass, Bear Wise

  • Woodskills - These workshops revolve around skilled woodworking or logging trades.  Workshops to choose from in this category: Slack lining for River Pigs, Make a mug using a hatchet, Woodcut Prints,

Challenges

Challenges will be set up during every meal with the intention of bonding you as a camp, while testing your mind and mettle. Challenges will include: 2-person crosscut saw races; flapjack flipping match-up; animal attack response quiz; entomophagy event; nail driving face off; ax-throwing tournament.
