Kingston's youth theatre company returns to summer programming with Man of la Mancha, a story of bravery, shivery and imagination. Enter a prison, where a local poet and playwright has been locked away awaiting the Spanish inquisition. While he waits, his fellow prisoners decide to take his theatre trunk and manuscripts and destroy it. In a desperate attempt to save his belongings, the poet asks for a trial by the prisoners, he creates for them a piece of theatre, telling the story of an old man who sets aside his old identity to become "Don Quixote" a knight who sets forth into the world right all wrongs and prove virtue will triumph over evil.

This Broadway Musical debuted in 1964, during the "Golden Age" of musical age, winning 5 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Score.
Blue Canoe Productions is a youth non-profit dedicated to providing opportunities in the arts for those between the ages of 13-30. Blue Canoe is celebrating it's 10th year and has produced 34 stage productions of musicals and plays, all featuring youth performers, directors, designers, musicians and crew. Most recently, these productions have included; Peter & the Starcatcher (2017), Chicago (2016), A Chorus Line (2015), The Producers (2014), Nine (2014), The Drowsy Chaperone (2013). Blue Canoe is the producing body behind Kingston's first ever youth arts festival: The Juvenis Festival. The company continues to provide a youth voice to the arts scene of Kingston.
