Movement for Actors with Charlotte Gowdy

Sunday July 17- 9am-5pm


Workshop Description: Join us for a fun-filled class focussing on movement and physicality for the actor. Through games, exploratory exercises and lots of moving around, participants will develop skills in stage presence, calming nerves, making strong physical choices and fully embodying character. Learn to move, breathe and play on stage with pleasure, precision and freedom!
Charlotte Gowdy- A graduate of both the National Theatre School of Canada and Ecole Philippe Gaulier in Paris, France, Charlotte has been acting, directing and teaching professionally across Canada for almost two decades. Her work includes seasons at the Shaw Festival, Stratford Festival, Canadian Stage, Theatre Kingston, St Lawrence Shakespeare Festival, Blyth Festival, Tarragon, Buddies, Nightwood, Odyssey, The Grand (London), Theatre Northwest, Neptune Theatre and Thousand Islands Playhouse.
Kingstonians may recognize Charlotte from her performance in Theatre Kingstons production of Venus in Fur or for directing TKs production of John Logans Red in 2014. She was the Associate Artistic Director at the Thousand Islands Playhouse for two years where she also directed two Young Company touring shows and played Rita in Educating Rita. She has been a regular guest instructor in the drama department of Queens University since 2003.
A company member at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Charlotte is currently working as the assistant director to Tim Carroll on The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. This is her second season as part of the Festivals Michael Langham Workshop for Classical Direction. Charlotte is a proud native of Charlottetown, PEI.
