The Watershed New Works Showcase returns with four innovative new Canadian “works-in-progress”. Out of necessity cased by the global lockdown, our first New Works Showcase was designed for an online presentation. We quickly realized some of the advantages of a digital showcase and are happy to welcome works from across the country.
This year saw three times the number of submissions to the program and based on what we received, it is clear that new music theatre development in Canada is alive and well. This year’s line-up includes Before the Last Meter by Saman Shahi and Isabella Dawis, The Lindworm’s Cabaret by Haley Sarfeld, Lauren Thomas, Rogan Gowan, Alison Gowan and Arden Rogalsky, Caezus by Nam Nguyen and Maksym Chipov-Rybtsev and a new work of ancestral discovery by Sarah Rossy.
