MOI - MOMENTUM OF ISOLATION bases its performances around social isolation and loneliness. The performance explores the objective and subjective experiences through the individual, the group and modern society - a society with shifting values and an ever-advancing digital way of life.

To share a digital world on stage, MOI places live interactive video and sound around the performers. These elements enhance ideas on how technology influences our lives, and that it can both empower and disempower us. 

Artistic Director and choreographer, Shay Kuebler, defines Radical System Art as an outlet for a childlike need to create, move and tell stories, stating "Maybe that is one of the reasons why dance and theatre can be so captivating: they tap us into our instinctive need to learn and be creative. Regardless of where you are from, we all connect back to our need to move and express ourselves."

About Camille:

Camille Spencer is an Independent Dance Artist, Choreographer, and Teacher. Hailing from the USA, she has traveled to many countries to find purpose in the artistic scene of Kingston, Ontario. With 20 years of experience her work focuses on adapting dance for non-traditional communities, engaging young dancers in professional opportunities, and furthering the exposure of dance to a wider audience. You can find Camille at H'art Centre, Kingston School of Dance, local independent dance projects, and summer festivals sharing her work. When not dancing she is working at her homestead, with her family of boys.  

Camille was a Kingston Grand Theatre Local Artist-in-Residence in 2021.

SHAY KUEBLER | RADICAL SYSTEM ART: (MOI) Momentum of Isolation

Oct. 16 | A strong and iconic voice from Vancouver, the dynamic Shay Kuebler returns with a poignant and virtuosic piece that delves into the pain of solitude. In today’s world, isolation—a theme that has inspired Kuebler since 2018, when he learned that the UK had appointed a Minister for Loneliness—has taken on a whole new meaning and even greater resonance.

Through inventive and powerful choreographic language, Momentum of Isolation beautifully translates this universal emotion. Kuebler’s signature style—highly physical dance rooted in his background in martial arts, urban dance, and theatre—is on full display.

Playing the part of a man who works alone, speaking only occasionally to his single green plant, Kuebler is surrounded by a chorus of performers as energetic as they are versatile. Come experience arguably the most formidably compelling piece in his repertoire to date.
