Not a Grand Theatre Presents workshop.
Presented as part of the 2016 Kick & Push Festival.
Indie theatre artists are often required to produce their own work. Producing IS a creative endeavour! This workshop provides a basic understanding of 'self-producing', exploring topics including: producing at a festival vs. producing independently; creating and managing a budget / cash flow; various Equity agreements; producing at a theatre venue vs. a site-specific / found location; fundraising (grant writing, crowd sourcing, grass-roots initiatives); marketing strategies; audience outreach and community engagement; publicity and media relations; pitching your work; and the future of your work...and more!
Julie Tepperman is an actor, playwright and educator; Aaron Willis is an actor, director and educator. Together they run Convergence Theatre, a Toronto-based, artist-driven, Dora-nominated indie theatre company, which creates immersive audience experiences in unique locations. Together and individually, Julie and Aaron have taught self-producing workshops for: The Toronto Fringe, SummerWorks (S.L.I.P.), George Brown and Humber Theatre Schools, and Nightwood Theatre.
