Poet and author Shane Koyczan, born and raised in Yellowknife, has been receiving praise for his poignant prose around the country for years. His poem We Are More featured prominently during Canada Day festivities on Parliament Hill and he performed a variation of the same poem during the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Shane pens stirring poems tackling his experiences with bullying, cancer, and death. In 2013, Shane released a version of his anti-bullying poem To This Day on Youtube and at the TED Conference in California to viral success.
