Last month, STARS announced their seventh studio album, No One Is Lost, will be released on October 14, 2014 on the band’s own label imprint, Soft Revolution Records/Universal.
Alongside the album announce news, STARS revealed plans for their U.S. run of shows starting this November and have now announced a full Canadian Tour with a performance at Kingston’s Grand Theatre on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 7:30pm. This show includes very special guests Hey Rosetta! whose upcoming album Second Sight will be released on October 21. This performance is a co-presentation by The Grand Theatre and Flying V Productions.
ForNo One Is Lost, STARS built a functional studio space from scratch, and began recording with long-time friend, and producer, Liam O’Neil (Metric, The Stills). Title-track, “No One Is Lost” co-produced and mixed by JUNO award-winning producer Jimmy Shaw features signature soaring Millan vocals holding down the chorus and builds to a euphoric house banger that distills all the hope, fear, joy, sadness, and sex in the band’s songbook into a pair of unshakeable mantras: “put your hands up because everybody dies / put your hands up if you know you’re going to lose.”
Those who snagged tickets to Riot Fest in Toronto in September, undoubtedly felt and heard the elemental influences and vibes in the new collection of STARS songs, unveiled for near the first time live. “Stars delivered a dance-fuelled, disco-tinged dish…Campbell and Amy Millan had the crowd dancing with the new single From The Night,” noted Huffington Post Music’s live review of the weekend. SPIN is premiering the video for From The Night today. The video was shot by Darren Curtis in Montreal’s Mile End neighborhood, where STARS studio is located. As Torquil Campbell calls it: “We went out, like we always do, we got drunk, like we sometimes do, we saw friends that we don't see enough and we filmed it all. Enjoy.”
