The critical praise and commercial success of the group's first seven studio albums could hardly have prepared them for the monumental 12 Grammy nominations they received in 1985 for the album Vocalese. Those 12 nominations made Vocalese the single greatest Grammy-nominated album in one year, and cemented the groups status as one of the most important and innovative vocal groups in the history of popular music. With worldwide sales in the millions, Grammy Awards by the dozen and as veterans of sold-out world tours, The Manhattan Transfer once again prove their uncanny knack for being ahead of the times.

UPDATE - Performer Change

It is with great regret we must inform you that Tim Hauser and Cheryl Bentyne will not be performing with The Manhattan Transfer for their performance on Dec. 3 at the Grand Theatre due to health issues.

Hauser is recovering from a recent spinal surgery and Bentyne will be undergoing aggressive chemotherapy for lymphoma. We sincerely hope for speedy recoveries and improved health for them both.

But the show will go on! The Manhattan Transfer have recruited two incredibly high caliber replacement vocalists who have both previously performed with the group.

Trist Curless is a member and co-founder of the vocal group m-pact, and audio producer for internationally acclaimed vocal groups Take 6 and Straight No Chaser. Margaret Dorn is an award-winning vocalist, composer, arranger and producer has performed with Celine Dion, Bette Midler and k.d. lang, Willie Nelson, Carly Simon, Michael MacDonald and Diana Ross.

Curless and Dorn will join original members Janis Siegel and Alan Paul for an evening of tunes ranging from doo-wop to Broadway, swing to fusion, and jazz to soul with a little holiday faire sprinkled in. We assure you that this professional troupe will continue to wow you with their beloved hits, vocal pyrotechnics and extraordinary energy.
