The Exclusive, Authorized by Peter Gabriel, Re-creation of Genesis' "Selling England by the Pound"

The Musical Box is undertaking the reproduction of the original concert in painstaking detail to give people the illusion of being at the actual 1973 Genesis concert.  The visual reconstruction of the show was based on photos and slides of the original concerts, as well as articles from papers and magazines and information offered by numerous people who either worked on or attended the original Selling England by the Pound tour. Couple that with the outstanding artistry and musicianship associated with The Musical Box and the audience is flawlessly transported back in time.

So take a little trip back…..

In 1973, Genesis toured Europe and North America to promote the album Selling England By The Pound with a unique stage show. It was the very first concert to make use of special lighting, sets, and visual effects, becoming one of the first ever multimedia performances, changing major concerts in an enduring fashion. The Musical Box, a group based out of Montreal, has faithfully recreated this concert to bring it to a new audience and anyone who might want to recreate the experience they had when they saw that Genesis concert forty years ago.

The Musical Box, internationally acclaimed for its historical reenactment of early Genesis’ works, is coming to Kingston to perform Selling England By The Pound, the emblematic 1973 show that made Genesis and Peter Gabriel attain rockstar status, enjoying to this day a cult following from nostalgic and young music lovers alike.

With Peter Gabriel’s famous theatrics and Genesis’ unique musicianship, the band’s artistry would produce some of the most iconic images and sound of the progressive rock era, such as the mythic 23 minutes long Supper’s Ready, considered as one of the most intense live experience ever created.

Exclusively licensed by Peter Gabriel and Genesis, The Musical Box has performed for more than a million spectators worldwide in some of the most prestigious venues such as the London Royal Albert Hall, and had the privilege of receiving Phil Collins and Steve Hackett from Genesis as performing guests. With its quest for authenticity, The Musical Box is often cited as the best interpretation group in the world, proving the relevance of performing contemporary classics.

“The Musical Box recreated, very accurately I must say, what Genesis was doing. I saw them in Bristol with my children so they could see what their father did back then” – Peter Gabriel
