The Poetry Show- Juvenis Festival

Presented by the Kingston Poetry Collective, Blue Canoe and Kingston WritersFest

Join us for the verbal wizardry we call a poetry show where you can share your poems, diatribes, confessions, dirty limericks, Shakespearean soliloquies, or that sexy dream you had about Neil deGrasse Tyson. Experience the heady mix of verbal dexterity and raw heart and soul all while supporting your local anti-heroes. The first half of the night will be an open mic, followed by a feature from multi-award winning queer slam poet, Andre Prefontaine! His signature wit and delivery style distinguish him as both writer and tragicomic hurricane of sassy all in one. Come on a feel trip with us!

Andre Prefontaine is a multi-award winning slam poet and arts educator based out of Toronto, Ontario. He has toured North America with a signature wit and delivery style that has given him an undisputed reputation as a writer and as a tragicomic hurricane of sassy all in one. A two-time Canadian Underground Slam champion(2012, 2013), team captain for the 2014 championship winning Toronto Poetry Slam team and two-victor of the Haiku Death match. Prefontaine has also used his poetry to branch into theatre with his one man show (mE)dith piaf that debuted as part of Buddies in Bad Times Young Creators Unit for the 2014 Rhubarb Festival, then toured to Halifax as part of the Queer Acts festival 2014. Unafraid, unabashed, sensitive and hilarious; brace yourself for one heck of a wild ride.

This event takes place at Cafe Church (333 Princess St #200 with entrance on Queen Street).
