5th Company Lane presents
The Russian Play
"The gravedigger and the flower-shop girl, is like poetry, yes?" What at first sounds like the beginning of an epic Russian love story, turns out to be the tale of a young woman's life in ruin. Sonya, the flower-shop girl, falls in love with Piotr, the gravedigger, in the small town of Vladekstov. However this love is tested and trialed at every turn, in which Sonya bears the brunt of misfortune. While the flower-shop girls story is no fairy tale romance, I entreat you to listen and to not lose hope. Sonya shows us that love, like poetry, can be both beautiful and tragic.
5th Company Lane Productionsis a student-run theatre organization at Queen's University.
