Calling all Nuns, Goat herders, Hills, Alps, Baronesses, Brown Paper Packages Tied up with String or any of your favourite things!!  Get ready to yodel Kingston! This is your chance to take part in the most successful movie musical of all time, The Sound of Music winner of 5 Academy Awards, including Best Picture (1965).

Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music is not just a chance to see this timeless, classic movie on the big screen in magnificent colour, it’s a major audience participation event for the entire family with subtitles for the songs.

Let’s start at the very beginning….

You, the audience are the stars of the show.  Here’s what happens:

(A)     Costume Competition
The important thing about this event is that it’s completely inclusive – you join in as much or as little as you want.  Sing at the top of your voice or just sit back, relax and enjoy the happiest sound in the whole world.  It’s not compulsory to dress up or sing but many people do and it really adds to the fun. Dip into the wardrobe of your imagination and surprise us with your creation.  Sing-a-long-a attenders have dressed up as anything and everything represented in the classic film –- the possibilities are as endless as the sunlight on a perfect Alpine day.

(B)    The Pre-Show Show
Upon entering the theatre, everyone receives a fabulous free fun pack filled with favourite things to be enjoyed as special props for the “magic moments” that make the evening go with a bang.  Then, 30-minutes before the curtain goes up, an emcee will leads you through a vocal warm-up and prepares you for special moments throughout the film.  (Keep your favourite things fun pack handy.)  Then, everyone wishing to have their costume judged will be introduced from the stage and audience reaction determines the winner of the costume competition.  NOTE TO PARENTS:  The free funpacks contain Party Poppers.  We strongly urge parental supervision  for young children.

(C)    SHOWTIME!
This classic film is in itself a delightful throwback to the golden age of cinema when an afternoon at the movies was a special event for the entire family.  The film is shown in its complete and unedited magnificence with a running time of 178 minutes and an intermission of 15 minutes to stretch your legs and visit the bar which serves snacks, adult beverages and soft drinks.  The bar is open throughout the film and refreshments are permitted in the auditorium.

Cheer for Maria! Wave your edelweiss! Dance in the gazebo with Liesl! Bark at Rolf! Hiss the Baroness! Boo the Nazis! Snuggle up with Gretel and join in earnest choruses of My Favourite Things!

Tickets: $22.50 + HST and handling fee.
